This is a picture I took around September of 2018. My roommates and I were looking for a house as we had to attend the Portland campus of the University of New England the following year. The girls that lived in the house before us were also nursing majors at UNE and one of them had painted this. I thought it was a beautiful representation of why anyone goes into the field of nursing, to help people. When I decided I wanted to be a nurse it was because I wanted to be able to make anyone’s dark days just a little bit brighter and this piece of art shows that. My roommates and I live in the house that this painting was in now, and although the art left with its owner, I can still imagine the art when I look at that wall and it reminds me to persevere into the nursing career because it will be so worth it.
As a nurse, we’re called upon to be the sunshine in our patients potentially cloudy lives. Your roommates must be lucky to have such a beautiful piece of artwork. It’s awesome how it is a constant reminder of why we want to be nurses and what are duties are. Always persevere!
This is a beautiful piece of art! It is very true that nursing has a lot to do with the heart of the person pursuing this type career. Being compassionate is such an important part of everyday nursing life, without this concept it will be extremely difficult to develop meaningful relationships with patients. I agree that all of the hard work and struggles we are going through now, are worth it in the long run.
So true Kenzie! This photo is a perfect representation of the nursing profession! Nursing really is a work of heart! We put our hearts into everything we do to care for our patients! It’s why we love what we do!
Great picture and great story! You never know where you will find inspiration, or who will share theirs with you!
